My Journey of Creativity As I stand here staring at these walls, I realize that all I’ve ever wanted to do was create, inspire, and heal. When I pick up a paintbrush, I am free, I’m to live and speak what my heart says. I’m free to be me. All that I am and all that I strive to be is one stroke away. You see a dream isn’t just a dream; it’s the unspoken word of where the subconscious lives and breathes and waits to be freed. And I stand here before you speaking the unspoken words of MY subconscious. I challenge all of you to free yours and speak through your dreams. To be a black woman is hard but to be a young black woman who’s an artist, an art teacher, a mom AND a wife is a blessing. As a black woman I strive to be noticed but not for my skin and not for what I can do but for what I can give to my children, my husband, my students, my friends, my family and the world. You see I’ve always dreamed big because quite frankly I’m small. However, my heart was always 3 sizes larger than me. All things that I do comes from GOD above because it is, he who directs my path and makes my light shine so bright. So, as you gaze upon my work, I hope that it touches something inside of you. I hope that evokes the spirit to do MORE and be MORE. With all my love your artist |
